Events are stored in three log files: Application, Security, and System. These logs can be reviewed and archived. For our purposes we want the System log. Click on "System" in the left-hand column for a list of events. Look for a date and time when you weren't home and your computer should have been off. double click on the eg: info n it will show u the detail. You can also use this log to see how long someone was on the computer. Just look at the time the computer was turned on and off for that day. Hope u all will like it.

Save the text file as key.bat in the same drive. Steps to lock the folder: To lock the xxxx folder, simply click the loc.bat and it will transform into control panel icon which is inaccessible. To unlock the folder click the key.bat file. Thus the folder will be unlocked and the contents are accessible. Locking Drives: We don’t usually prefer to lock our drives, but sometimes it becomes nesscary. Say for instance you might have stored your office documents in D:\ and you don’t want your kids to access it, in such case this technique can be useful for you. Please don’t try this tweak with your root drive (usually C:\ is the root drive) since root drives are not intended to be locked because they are mandatory for the system and application programs. Start & Run and type Regedit to open Registry editor Browse HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer Create a new DWORD value NoViewOnDrive and set its value as 2^ (Alpha Number of Drive Letter-1) where Alpha number are simple counting of alphabets from A to Z as 1 - 26 For example: to lock C:\, Alpha number of C is 3 so 2^ (3-1) = 4 (decimal value) To lock more drives, calculate the value of each drive and then set sum of those numbers as value To unlock your drive just delete the key from the registry
If your system has failed to the point where you cannot access the Windows GUI either through booting normally or through safe mode, you may still have the chance to use the System Restore feature if you have it enabled, by running it form the command prompt. To do this:
Restart your computer and press F8 after the POST screen to bring up the Windows XP boot menu. Choose 'boot in safe mode with command prompt.'
If your system gets to the command prompt successfully, type '%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe' and then press enter. Follow the onscreen instructions to restore your computer to a previous saved point.
To rename the start button, you will need a hex editor. My preference is UltraEdit

5. You should see the default value of “@%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll,-8964″. Delete or remove the default value and key in your desired new recycle bin’s name in text, e.g. “Garbage Bin” (without quote).
6. Refresh your desktop or Windows Explorer by pressing F5. You will see the new ‘recycle bin’ name.

Optionally, you can also modify the text of InfoTip, commonly known as tooltip what display certain help tip, guide or description about Recycle Bin when the mouse is hovering on Recycle Bin icon on desktop. The default text is “Contains files and folders that you have deleted.” Simply double click on InfoTip, or right click on InfoTip and select Modify to change the text of the info tip.

It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default." So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.
Open Registry by going to Start then Run and Enter regedit. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet. Explorer\Main. In right hand panel look for string "Window Title" and change its value to whatever custom text you want to see.

Pagefile.sys is a windows system file which acts as a virtual memory extension of a computer’s real memory RAM. By default, pagefile.sys is set to the same size as your actual physical memory size and might consume a huge disk space of your computer hard drive space. When physical RAM is fully used and there is need for more memory, information/data not currently being accessed can be ’swapped’ to that location and thus free physical RAM for immediate use. That same data can be transferred back if need be, into physical RAM at any time.
There are some easy ways to just turn off Paging file generation, but for systems lesser than 512MB RAM, it would mean disaster. hence I do not recommend turning off the Paging file generation. As mentioned before, assuming you have enough hard disk space to spare, you can convert that space to speed and improve the performance of your Windows XP/Vista. You must have guessed it by now. the trick is to increase the size of pagefile.sys, thereby giving your PC morevirtual memory to use
JUST FOLLOW THESE STEPS
1. Know the size of the RAM installed on your computer by right clicking on My Computer and choosing Properties.
2. Go to Control Panel and run System.
3. Click on Advanced tab and click the Settings button on Performance.
4. Click on Advanced tab again and click on the Change button
